Social activities are often an important part of your journey here in the United Kingdom. They provide the opportunity to make friends, build confidence, experience British culture and, most importantly help to improve English skills!
Here at UKEC Academy we work together with our students, teachers and the local community to create a social programme that is both engaging and educational. Every month we have a variety of different activities and trips that are accessible to students from all over the world. This starts on your very first day at the academy with a tour around Manchester city centre!
Manchester is a thriving city and there’s always a lot going on for you to discover! If you’re looking to experience Manchester’s cultural festivals such as; Manchester International Festival, food and drink festivals or Manchester’s famous Christmas Markets are all great ways to enjoy the city’s diversity and talent.
During your stay, you can expect to visit some of these great cultural events as well as visiting Manchester’s most famous spots, including Manchester’s Football Stadiums, The Imperial War Museum and Media City.
Can’t make a trip? Or looking for something to do at the weekend? Here are the top 5 places to visit:
- Manchester City Etihad Stadium
- The John Ryland’s Library
- Science and Industry Museum
- City of Manchester Distillery
- The Manchester Museum
At the academy we are always working to improve and build on our social programme. We have taken steps to make it easier for you to understand and you can select the activities that best suit you. You can expect there to be a different activity every day that you can get involved in as well as trips around the city. We have something for everyone including sports, relaxing afternoons, education and activities right here in the academy, such as our monthly quiz, for those typical British rainy days!
We hope that all our students can make the most of our social programme whilst they are studying at UKEC Academy. We are always open to suggestions of things you would like to do, so please don’t hesitate to let us know your ideas!
